Radical Idea 2: Merry Marijuana Day

The legalization of marijuana has been an on-going campaign to end pot prohibition by the Marijuana Party of Canada. After backpacking in Amsterdam, I came to a conclusion about drugs and halluinogens. And that is - because of the law, marijuana is labled as bad since it is categorized "illegal". I think it would be fair if marijuana was on the same terms as tobacco regarding law issues. That way the law enforcers have more time to deal with real issues like murders and robbery instead of "where did you get your weed from?" And with marijuana legalized and easier to access, marijuana becomes cheaper so addicts won't have to resort to theft or robbery. Furthermore, financial-wise, marijuana can become a huge business opportunity for British Columbia.

So I propose the design solution: Merry Marijuana Day, celebrating the plant cannabis like a holiday. If we start treating marijuana like a gift, instead of something illegal just because the law maker decided not to legalize it, will our views shift and change. So in the spirit of giving, I've created a seasonal Merry Marijuana Day wrapping paper.

PHASE 1
The phase one of the design solution is to bring the audience the good aspects of marijuana. Thus I re-created an advertisement in the parking ticket format as both the form and the content dealt with law and order of Canada. The tickets are then placed as parking tickets on the windshield of various cas on Broadway and its side streets. The use of bright pink paper will bring awareness to drivers as to whats on the windshield; they will likely to be fooled as if it was a real parking ticket until further indepth reading - which is the goal. The design is to mimick the current parking tickets with bad kerning and word spacing while bringing across the advertising of Merry Marijuana Day.

Was there a link back to this website to get people's reactions from the tickets?

dealing with is interesting, except that Vancouver authorities are already quite lax on the issue. also, i found it contradictory how you referred to marijuana users as "addicts" and then went on to mention that the reason marijuana shouldn't be legalized is because it isn't addictive.

I was wondering or you also thought about the other side of this problem: do you also want to legalise the producing of marijana? In the netherlands this is problem.

You are using a package for this product, isn't that more a covering/ something what looks illegal in stead of making it open?
